About newBWS

A village, rebuilt.

newBWS is the member-owned professional network for the Black investment ecosystem. A national directory of Black-owned businesses, an academy taught by practitioners, and a professional network where members are seen by each other, not sold to advertisers. It is held by a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation and launches January 1, 2027.

What newBWS is

Professional infrastructure, owned by its members.

Black Wall Street was not a miracle. It was infrastructure: banks, groceries, hotels, professionals, and capital that circulated within a community that owned it. newBWS exists to rebuild that infrastructure digitally, as a network the members own, so the value the community creates stays in the community.

The platform organizes everything it does around three pillars.

Pillar 01

Jobs

Careers advanced through a network that knows your name and vouches for your work.

Pillar 02

Entrepreneurship and small business

A national directory of Black-owned businesses and a co-op that routes customers, suppliers, and standing back to its members.

Pillar 03

Investing and wealth building

The knowledge and the infrastructure to build wealth that compounds across generations.

How it is held

A Public Benefit Corporation, mission-locked.

newBWS is a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation. Its charter obligates it to a public benefit, not only to shareholders, and a golden share protects the mission from a sale or a pivot that would betray it. The platform does not run behavioral advertising, does not sell member data, and does not take venture capital equity. The full structure, including what the company is permanently prohibited from doing, is documented on the governance page.

Membership is invitation and application based. The network opens with a founding cohort of one hundred members and grows from there, deliberately. Businesses in the directory are honestly labeled: a Verified badge appears only where ownership has been confirmed, and never anywhere else.

The ecosystem

Four properties, one mission.

newBWS

Professional network and academy.

The Ledger

The digital monument to Black American history.

Harvest

Black farms, institutional tables.

TheCookout

The cultural members club.

The directory is open to everyone today: thousands of Black-owned businesses, searchable by category and city, with a Buy Black funnel for the movement and a business co-op that pays owners back. The Academy ships its first practitioner-taught courses with the platform launch.

Built in the open. Owned for good.
