What to bring
- Registered voters do not need to present identification or proof of residence to vote.
The Board still encourages you to take some form of identification in case you need it.
No ID? If this is your first time voting in DC and you did not provide proof of residence when registering, you need to show proof of residence to cast a regular ballot. Without it you vote a Special Ballot and have until 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday after Election Day to present proof of residence to the Board.
If the line is long
All voters who are in line at 8:00 p.m. may cast a ballot.
If they turn you away, ask for a provisional ballot.
